PLAYER RECOMMENDATIONS

FORWARD

Cristiano Ronaldo, MAD v. DOR ($15,000): Okay, so Lionel Messi didn't start Tuesday, so it wasn't much of a plug-and-play at the top spot for the forward position. However, Ronaldo is likely to start Wednesday, as Real Madrid are second in the group, sitting three points behind Tottenham. It is unlikely that Real Madrid will tie Tottenham on points at the top of the table since Tottenham face Apoel, but Ronaldo should be given the nod.

Harry Kane, TOT v. APO ($13,500): This man is quickly becoming one of the top players in all of world football. He has been regarded as such for some time, but his 21 goals in 23 appearances this season is propelling him into the Ballon d'Or debate. A soft spot against Apoel should almost guarantee a Kane goal, if he starts.

Wissam Ben Yedder, SEV at MAR ($11,000): Ben Yedder has solidified himself as Sevilla's top goalscorer. He has scored five goals in his last three starts, and a matchup against Maribor should have him chomping at the bit to add to his run of form. Sevilla needs a result to ensure its place in the knockout phase, so Ben Yedder is likely to start, which makes him one of the top plays of the day.

MIDFIELDER

Ever Banega, SEV at MAR ($8,000): Banega plays in the central midfield position, and he has a license to get forward. He takes many of the set pieces for Sevilla, which gives him a higher probability of providing an assist, as seen in his last two matches when he picked up one in each. The Argentine is considered one of the world's best box-to-box midfielders, so his defensive contribution is well-known. The midfielders that get up and down the field, and are near the ball a ton are the players you want on your team, and Banega is exactly that, especially in a game against an undermatched opponent.

Marek Hamsik, NAP at FEY ($7,500): Hamsik has just one assist his last three Champions League games, but he has managed to average just over 20 fantasy points per outing in that span. His steady supply of peripheral stats gives him a nice, stable floor, while his ability to get up and down the field makes him good fit for the midfield position.

Pablo Sarabia, SEV at MAR ($7,000): If Sarabia starts along with Banega, there is no shame in rostering both players. Sarabia and Banega share set piece duties, so each player has a good chance of setting up a goal, and the soft spot against Maribor hints at fantasy success.

DEFENDERS

Sergio Escudero, SEV at MAR ($6,500): It's been awhile since Escudero found the back of the net after starting the year with a stretch of three goals in three games, but his attacking prowess is primed to take advantage of soft matchups. Maribor is the epitome of a favorable spot.

Serge Aurier, TOT v. APO ($4,500): Aurier is much too cheap at this price. Tottenham are playing the weakest team in Group H, and Aurier is a world-class talent at right back. He spent several years at PSG, where he had multiple big fantasy games. He has elite pace that allows him to charge up the right flank, and his crossing ability gives him a good chance of grabbing an assist. He has yet to really show Tottenham what he can offer, and Wednesday makes for a great opportunity to do so in a game where Spurs are expected to win by at least a goal.

GOALKEEPER

Kiko Casilla, MAD v. DOR ($4,500): Casilla is simply too cheap for being the starting goalkeeper for Real Madrid, at home. He is facing a capable Dortmund attack that is sputtering a bit at the moment, and now is the perfect time to take advantage. Dortmund have only managed to score one goal in five of the last six games, and Madrid prevailed 3-1 in the first meeting. That one was in Germany, and a return to the Santiago Bernabeu should give Casilla a better chance of earning the clean sheet. Additionally, Dortmund will look to be aggressive all game since the club has nothing to lose, with just two points in Group H, which means Casilla will face a steady supply of shots for the full 90 minutes.
