Announces retirement

September 5, 2024
Morgan took to Instagram to announce her retirement from the beautiful game Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Morgan has decided to call it quits at the age of 35, with the USWNT longtime forward hanging up the boots following Sunday's match against North Carolina. She ends her career with a long list of accomplishments, having won the NWSL Championship, Shield and Challenge Cup on the club level, appearing in 212 matches while notching 94 goals. Her international track record is even better, earning 224 caps for the USWNT while scoring 123 goals, sitting fifth all-time. She was also a part of the 2015 and 2019 World Cup-winning squads, taking home the silver boot in 2019 while adding on Gold and Silver Olympic medals. Finally, she was a finalist for two Ballon d'Ors, just adding to her already-filled trophy case. She is no doubt a legend of women's football and an all-time USWNT player. With her final game Sunday, this is definitely the end of an era for many, thank you 13.
