FantasyDraft MLB: Sunday Values

PITCHER

Robbie Ray, AZ vs. SD ($24,300): This one is pretty easy as Ray is a top-five pitcher right now and he's facing the worst offense in baseball. Since returning from the DL, Ray has recorded 33 strikeouts in three stars while allowing just two runs. San Diego enters with the second-lowest wOBA against lefties this season and the third-highest K%.

Stephen Strasburg, WAS vs. PHI ($24,800): Yep, it's one of those slates where the top-two options are clearly the best picks, so no need to stretch here for an iffy selection at a cheaper price. Like Ray, Strasburg has been very impressive since returning from the DL a couple weeks ago. In four starts since his return, Strasburg has 31 strikeouts while allowing just two runs. Meanwhile, the Phillies enter with the sixth-lowest wOBA against righties this season and the fifth-highest K%.

INFIELD

Buster Posey, SF at CHW ($7,600):Carson Fulmer takes the mound for the White Sox and if San Fran had more dependable bats, the Giants would be an ideal stack. Posey looks like the best option, as he leads all active Giants with a .356 wOBA against righties this season. Fulmer enters with a 10.15 ERA through three appearances, so if you are going the Ray/Strasburg route, a Giants stack just might work because of the reduced salaries.

Josh Donaldson, TOR vs. DET ($9,600): Donaldson has missed the past couple games due to an illness, but the prospect of facing Anibal Sanchez should improve his condition enough to get back into the lineup. Sanchez enters with a 7.07 ERA, and though he didn't allow any runs in his most recent start, that was only because he was pulled after five pitches. Seriously, Sanchez has been awful all season, and even though the Jays have struggled all season, they still have plenty of bats that can get to a bad pitcher. Donaldson is one of those, as he leads the team with a .384 wOBA against righties this season.

Freddie Freeman, ATL vs. MIA ($9,900): Though there have been reports that Freeman is still struggling with some wrist issues, his production lately makes that hard to believe. He hasn't reached the outrageous level he was at early in the season, but he still has a .444 wOBA against righties this season, which is third-highest in the majors. Odrisamer Despaigne takes the hill for the Marlins, and while he's been good in spots, he's not elite.

OUTFIELD

Yasiel Puig, LAD vs. COL ($6,600): We obviously need to find some value on this slate because of the high-priced pitching, and Puig fits the bill as his price is on the lower-end of the spectrum. As you might expect, his price is low because he hasn't been great this season, but he's coming off a good game against a righty and gets another in Tyler Chatwood, who was moved to the bullpen after struggling in the starter role. Meanwhile, Puig enters with a .372 wOBA against righties this season, which is third on the team.

Tony Kemp, HOU at OAK ($4,200): A speculative play here as Kemp is nowhere near an everyday player, but if he gets the nod, he'll have some value as the Astros should score plenty of runs. Opposing starter Kendall Graveman has been up and down all season and right now, he's down. Graveman has allowed nine runs in his last 10 innings over two starts and his prospects don't look to improve as the Astros will be out for blood after getting swept Saturday. Kemp has one double-digit effort in three starts this season, so the upside is there.

Tommy Pham, STL vs. PIT ($8,800): Pham was on fire early this week before an injury slowed his roll, but he's back in the mix just in time for a matchup against Ivan Nova, whose ERA is up to 4.11 after allowing 19 runs in his last 26 innings. Pham enters with a .395 wOBA against righties this season, which is tops on the Cardinals and top-15 in the majors.

UTILITY

Brian Dozier, MN at KC ($9,600): Dozier doesn't come cheap, but when he's facing a lefty, he's often worth the price. When he's facing a struggling lefty like Jason Vargas, he's almost a must-have. Vargas has been terrible lately, allowing 20 runs in his last 17.2 innings, while Dozier has a .434 wOBA against lefties, which is top-20 in the majors. The Twins are certainly in play for a stack as well, but their recent surge will make it difficult to fit all the salaries in.

Brad Miller, TB at BOS ($5,700): Miller has a .499 wOBA, including five home runs, in 32 career at-bats against opposing starter Rick Porcello, and while it's not an enormous sample, it's certainly big enough to consider for a guy who costs less than $6,000. The Rays are definitely not a stacking options, but on a slate where you'll need to find some bargains, Miller is your man.
