2024 Fantasy Outlook
The Colts used the 52nd pick in the 2024 draft on Mitchell, a combine standout who was never his team's top receiver in college. He had just 560 yards in two seasons at Georgia behind WR Ladd McConkey and TE Brock Bowers, before coming into his own at Texas in 2023 with a 55-845-11 receiving line on 92 targets (28 fewer looks than first-round pick Xavier Worthy). There was talk of Mitchell sneaking into the first round after the 2024 Combine, where he had the longest broad jump (136 inches) and third-fastest 40 time (4.34 second) among wide receivers -- while checking in at 6-2, 205. Physically, he's the prototype for a No. 1 receiver, and with plenty of upside for continued development given that he'll turn 22 in October. He figures to replace Alec Pierce as the deep threat alongside Michael Pittman and slot man Josh Downs, with the Colts obviously hoping Mitchell won't be as one-dimensional as Pierce (though it might take some time). Big-time volume in Year 1 is unlikely, as the Colts still have Pittman locked in for a large target share and figure to run a lot with QB Anthony Richardson and RB Jonathan Taylor. Read Past Outlooks

Just one reception, key drop in loss
Mitchell had one reception for 30 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Green Bay. He had a crucial easy drop on a key third-down play.
ANALYSIS
Mitchell showed promise in the season opener when he was wide open for two possible touchdowns but Anthony Richardson overthrew him. Mitchell worked as the No. 3 receiver and started in the slot again, but he could have a smaller role when Josh Downs returns as soon as next week. Mitchell's high-profile drop won't help his case in the short term.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be WR2 to begin season
With Josh Downs yet to return to practice due to a high-ankle sprain he sustained in early August, Mitchell could serve as the Colts' No. 2 wide receiver behind Michael Pittman to start the season.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Shane Steichen said this past Sunday that Downs' status for Week 1 is unclear, per James Boyd of The Athletic, which should give Mitchell more looks in the passing game from quarterback Anthony Richardson. Mitchell was the Colts' second-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, and his ability to line up outside or in the slot should give him plenty of playing time out of the gate.
