2024 Fantasy Outlook
Sutton still hasn't come close to matching his career-high 1,112 receiving in 2019, his second pro season, but 2023 at least was his best year since suffering an ACL tear Week 1 of 2020. While targeted slightly less often than in 2021 and 2022, the 6-4 wideout scored TDs on 10 of his 59 receptions in 2023 and had a career-high 65.6 percent catch rate along with 8.6 YPT (his best mark since 2019). Russell Wilson's second season with the Broncos, while not exactly impressive, represented the highest quality of QB play Sutton has experienced since the team drafted him 40th overall in 2018. The ACL tear interrupted what looked like a standard progression for a highly regarded prospect -- 704 yards as a rookie, 1,112 in Year 2 -- and the QB carousel in Denver hasn't done Sutton any favors. He'll enter his age-28 season with another new Week 1 starter under center, be it first-round pick Bo Nix or sketchy veteran Jarrett Stidham. The good news, in addition to Sutton playing better last year, is that target competition looks weak after the Broncos dealt Jerry Jeudy to the Browns and replaced him with Josh Reynolds (career high of 618 yards) and fourth-round pick Troy Franklin. Touchdown regression is a given and per-target efficiency a challenge, but Sutton might be able to make up for it -- at least partially -- if he ventures north of triple-digit targets after drawing only 90 last year. Another unproductive day
Sutton recorded one reception on four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was an afterthought in Sunday's defeat, as he finished fifth on the team in targets. His lone reception came midway through the third quarter on a deep pass down the sideline. Positively, he was also targeted in the end zone, but Bo Nix's pass was picked off. It's been a concerning start to the season for Sutton as he has only five receptions and 64 yards on 16 targets through two contests.

Sutton turns 28 in October, at which point he'll be more than three years removed from the ACL tear he suffered Week 1 of 2020. His two seasons since then have been major disappointments, with the 2018 second-round pick turning in 776 and 829 receiving yards while scoring only two TDs both years. He's never caught 60 percent of his targets in a season, even in 2019 when he had 1,112 yards, though it's arguably excusable given that he's always dealt with poor QB play and never had an aDOT below 11.6. While Sutton isn't a burner, his 4.54 40 time was more than sufficient at 6-3, 218, and he landed top 5 among WRs at the 2018 combine in the short shuttle (4.11 sec.), three-cone drill (6.57 seconds) and broad jump (124 inches). He might have lost some of the speed and agility after his injury, and last year's lack of production with Russell Wilson at QB seems more concerning after the Denver offense improved somewhat toward end of the season with the help of a huge finish from fellow WR Jerry Jeudy — Jeudy finished with nine fewer targets than Sutton but 143 more yards and four more TDs (both played 15 games). Sutton has even been mentioned as a trade candidate, with Tim Patrick coming back from last summer's ACL tear and the Broncos using a second-round pick on Oklahoma WR Marvin Mims to give new coach Sean Payton a speedy deep threat.

Gets sought-after pay bump
Sutton had $1.5 million in incentives added to his 2024 base salary Thursday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton already had a $13 million base salary locked in for the coming season, along with $500,000 worth of roster bonuses. However, he was still seeking a raise in some form and had reported to camp on time with the rest of veterans, following that up by participating in both of the team's first two practices. Sutton projects to serve as the Broncos' clear-cut No. 1 receiver in 2024 following the offseason trade of Jerry Jeudy to the Browns.
