Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
A 2018 fourth-round pick, Armstrong didn't play much his first three seasons in Dallas but eventually emerged as one of the better backup defensive ends in the league. He had at least five sacks and 12 QB hits each of the past three years under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who will now be Armstrong's head coach in Washington. The change in teams also figures to make Armstrong a starter, rather than coming off the bench behind Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence again. Armstrong's per-snap production from Dallas hints at double-digit-sack potential now with the upcoming workload increase. Read Past Outlooks
Moving to Washington
Armstrong is slated to sign with the Commanders on Wednesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Armstrong's deal is expected to be worth a max of $45 million over three years, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. The 26-year-old will remain in the NFC East and continue playing under Dan Quinn, but he'll ultimately be changing addresses in 2024. The Kansas product has spent all six NFL seasons in Dallas and recorded a career-high 38 combined tackles last season while adding 7.5 sacks, which was second on the team to Micah Parsons in 2023.

First-round rookie QB Jayden Daniels may be running for his life behind a porous O-line this season, but his playmaking at least should result in the occasional highlight-worthy play.
Contract situations are looming over QB Dak Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb, but however things play out, the Cowboys are well-positioned on both sides of the ball to remain one of the NFC's top squads.
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is cleared from the final injury report and may get the 16 yards he needs to reach 1,000, but he's unlikely to play the entire game Week 18.
2023 Fantasy Outlook
A fourth-round pick in 2018, the Cowboys' patience with Armstrong's development paid off in 2022 as he racked up a career-high 8.5 sacks in only 514 snaps. The Kansas product doesn't have the elite athleticism or skills to be the lead dog in a pass rush, but he's become a dangerous secondary option in a deep group of Dallas edge rushers who benefits greatly from blockers having to devote so much attention to Micah Parsons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could thrive in larger role
Armstrong is likely to increase his production after going from Dallas to Washington in the offseason, per Jeffri Chadiha of NFL.com.
ANALYSIS
Armstrong was used in a situational role on a Dallas defense that also featured Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence, yet he still managed to rack up 8.5 sacks in 2022 and 7.5 sacks in 2023. After finding success under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn with the Cowboys, Armstrong will be playing under Quinn once again in Washington, as Quinn will be the Commanders' head coach. With a full-time starting role on the edge of a defensive line that has Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen potentially demanding double teams on the inside, Armstrong could be poised for his most productive season yet in 2024.
