2024 Fantasy Outlook
Flacco signed a one-year deal in March with $4.5 million guaranteed to back up Anthony Richardson in Indianapolis. Flacco gives the Colts a veteran capable of keeping the team afloat should Richardson go down. That’s what he did last year in Cleveland, after joining the Browns in mid-November. By December, he was the starter and guided the Browns to the playoffs, earning Comeback Player of the Year honors. Flacco’s on-target rate was 67.6 percent -- 33rd of 35 QBs with at least 200 attempts -- partly because he went downfield at such a high rate -- 38.3 percent of attempts went at least 10 yards (2nd), 12.3 percent at least 20 yards (3rd). Among QBs with at least 200 attempts, his 9.3 air yards per attempt ranked second and his 7.9 YPA was sixth. Flacco still has a strong arm, and at 39, he still has something left in the tank. RANKS
Not expected to play Saturday
Flacco isn't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Cardinals, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Flacco is expected to sit, as are the bulk of the Colts' starters. The 39-year-old did play last week against Denver, completing 3-of-5 passes for 28 yards on his lone series of work. Flacco has the Colts' QB2 job sewn up behind Anthony Richardson. Look for plenty of Sam Ehlinger this weekend for Indianapolis.

Flacco re-signed with the Jets during the offseason and enters camp as the favorite to beat out Mike White for the backup spot behind 2021 second overall pick Zach Wilson. The 37-year-old Flacco played well in limited action last year, coming nine yards short of 300 in his lone start of the season. Flacco could end up making the Week 1 start after Wilson injured his knee in the preseason opener.

Surprised at not being with Browns
Flacco, who helped the Browns get into the postseason in 2023, conceded to being a "little bit" surprised he's not returning to Cleveland in 2024, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Flacco does have a landing spot for this coming season, having inked a deal with the Colts to serve as Anthony Richardson's backup. However, Flacco conceded Friday that he was somewhat surprised at the Browns not bringing him back after it was clear he was interested in playing another season, but Shook points out Flacco was simply a stopgap measure last season for Cleveland.
