2024 Fantasy Outlook
Trask hoped to push Baker Mayfield for starts last season, but that never materialized and he ended up attempting just one pass (which fell incomplete). With Mayfield back in the fold with a new $100 million contract, the song remains the same for Trask. At 6-5, 236, Trask has a strong arm and threw with touch and accuracy in college, but as long as Mayfield keeps performing, he’s stuck as the backup. The Buccaneers return their key offensive playmakers, and while offensive coordinator Dave Canales bolted for Carolina, Tampa Bay hired former Kentucky OC Liam Coen to continue the Sean McVay-derived offense -- Coen previously coached under McVay with the Rams. Trask isn’t particularly mobile, so probably wouldn’t offer much rushing upside if he takes the field. Read Past Outlooks

Cameo appearance in Week 13 win
Trask replaced Baker Mayfield (leg) for two plays during the Buccaneers' 26-23 overtime win against the Panthers on Sunday and completed his only pass attempt for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Trask took his first snap with 5:32 remaining in the third quarter on a handoff to Bucky Irving (hip) and completed a five-yard pass to his running back on the next play before Mayfield reentered the contest after walking off his leg injury, which was the result of being cleated. The pass was Trask's first of the season and came in what was his second appearance overall. Mayfield was experiencing leg soreness Monday, per Jenna Laine of ESPN.com, but he's expected to be ready to play in Sunday's Week 14 home matchup against the Raiders.

A 2021 second-round pick, Trask spent the last two years watching Tom Brady before getting the chance this summer to compete with Baker Mayfield for a starting job. The Bucs settled on Mayfield as the Week 1 starter after two weeks of preseason action, but Trask still stands a decent chance to make starts at some point this year. The 6-5 Trask is at least four inches taller than Mayfield, who has a similarly large advantage when it comes to experience -- Trask has nine NFL pass attempts to his name, all of which came in Week 18 last season. While not particularly mobile, Trask was excellent in the pocket at Florida with a 67.9 percent completion rate and 69/15 TD/INT, highlighted by 4,283 yards and 43 TDs his senior year. He has a strong arm, with touch and accuracy to stretch the field. The Bucs have quality receiving options and hired first-time coordinator Dave Canales, a long-time Seattle assistant who last year coached quarterbacks. Trask has untapped potential, whereas the 28-year-old Mayfield is a known quantity.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely in line for No. 2 job
Trask appears to have locked up the Buccaneers' No. 2 quarterback job over John Wolford with his performance in Tampa Bay's preseason finale against the Dolphins on Friday night.
ANALYSIS
Wolford suffered a rib injury that caused his exit from the Buccaneers' second preseason contest, but he was back at practice Monday. Nevertheless, once Trask took over from Baker Mayfield after the latter's first-quarter cameo, he went the rest of the way for Tampa Bay on Friday. The third-year signal-caller completed 17 of 24 passes for 141 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions against Miami's reserves, almost certainly cementing the No. 2 role for the second straight season. Greg Auman of FOXSports.com reports Trask talked up the value of the extended opportunity he received Friday, particularly key for a player that has only 10 regular-season pass attempts in his first two years but is one big hit on Mayfield away from having to step in.
