27-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
Atlanta Falcons
2024 Fantasy Outlook
After spending two years in San Francisco, McCloud signed a two-year deal with Atlanta this offseason, joining Darnell Mooney and Casey Washington as additions to a revamped wideout corps behind Drake London. Quarterback Kirk Cousins also is new in town and expected to elevate the passing attack led by former Rams passing game coordinator Zac Robinson. McCloud has never been prolific, totaling 26 catches (on 40 targets) for 378 yards and a score across two seasons with the 49ers, but he excels as a returner, which should help him land a roster spot on the Falcons. Secures three receptions in win
WRAtlanta Falcons
September 17, 2024
McCloud caught three of five targets for 42 yards during Monday's 22-21 win over the Eagles. He also rushed once for three yards.
ANALYSIS
After leading the Falcons in targets while playing only 48 percent of the offensive snaps in Week 1, McCloud played every offensive snap during Monday Night Football. He finished third on the team in receiving yards behind Darnell Mooney (3-88-1) and Drake London (6-54-1). McCloud was also called for an unnecessary roughness penalty after one of his catches in the second quarter, but that didn't impact his role in the second half. While his production and playing time to start the campaign are encouraging, it remains unclear how many viable fantasy wideouts the Falcons' new-look offense can sustain, especially if tight end Kyle Pitts gets going.

McCloud turned out to be a great signing for the 49ers last season, as the journeyman filled the team's need for a return specialist after experimenting with several options over the past couple of years. The fifth-year pro also proved to be a sneaky weapon for head coach Kyle Shanahan on offense, posting 18 touches for 321 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in 17 games. Expect McCloud to continue handling all of San Francisco's return duties while serving as the team's fourth wideout in 2023.
McCloud saw his offensive production rise to new career-high marks of 39 receptions and 277 yards with the Steelers in 2021. The 25-year-old joins a 49ers wide receiver room to provide slot depth and ability as a returner. McCloud has a good shot to make the team come Week 1, but it would take a series of unlikely events for him to have much fantasy value.
McCloud appeared in every game for the Steelers in 2020, but he only recorded 142 yards from scrimmage and ranked fifth among the team's wide receivers in offensive snaps. As long as Pittsburgh's key pass catchers remain healthy, McCloud is unlikely to have a meaningful role in the team's offense.
As a rookie, McCloud, a sixth-rounder out of Clemson, caught five of just six targets for 36 yards over the course of 10 games in 2018. He also returned one kickoff for 18 yards and four punts for 20 yards. Given the Bills' wideout woes last season, the team signed John Brown and Cole Beasley in free agency, moves that don't favor McCloud's chances of moving up the depth chart. With Zay Jones and Robert Foster still in the mix, McCloud will need a break or two to go his way before he comes close to approaching fantasy relevance. UPDATE: McCloud was cut by the Bills on Aug. 31 and is currently a free agent.
McCloud, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, is entering a crowded wideout corps that lacks explosive talents. His college stat line doesn't scream that he'll be that guy, however, with just four receiving touchdowns in three years. McCloud will serve as a depth asset if he makes the team.

Looking good for No. 3 role
WRAtlanta Falcons
August 7, 2024
McCloud is poised to open the season as Atlanta's top slot receiver, as he was working ahead of Rondale Moore prior to Moore's knee injury Wednesday, per Josh Kendall of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Even with Moore healthy, McCloud had the inside track on the slot receiver role, as he's consistently been working with the first-team offense in training camp. Moore was carted off the field at practice Wednesday due to a non-contact injury, further solidifying McCloud's standing as Atlanta's third wide receiver behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney.
