Travon Walker

23-Year-Old Defensive EndDE
Jacksonville Jaguars
2024 Fantasy Outlook
The 2022 first overall pick had a quiet rookie campaign with just 2.5 sacks, but he took a leap forward as a sophomore NFLer last season with 10 sacks in 17 games. Walker and Josh Allen were one of the best sack duos in the league with 27.5 combined, and Allen's five-year, $150 million contract has ensured the pairing will continue for the foreseeable future. Walker still has just one forced fumble in his 32 NFL games, and turning into a more complete playmaker is the next step in his development. Read Past Outlooks

Walker totaled seven tackles (six solo) and recovered a fumble that he returned for a touchdown in Sunday's loss to Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Walker's seven stops were a season-high mark and were enough to ensure he had a strong day for fantasy managers who roster him as an IDP. However, the defensive end's biggest impact came on one play -- he recovered a Saquon Barkley fumble in the third quarter and returned it 35 yards for his first NFL touchdown. Walker is putting together his best pro season with 33 tackles (17 solo), including 6.5 sacks, through nine games.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
It was a quiet rookie campaign for the first overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, as he finished with 49 tackles (24 solo), 3.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 15 games. He's unlikely to jump into IDP relevance in 2023, but the Georgia product should see significant playing time early on in hopes of a significant jump during his second season as a pro.
The first overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Walker should immediately step into a major role on Jacksonville's defensive front. The 21-year-old didn't start a game at Georgia until his junior season in 2021, but he still finished with 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss over 36 games in his collegiate career. Walker should see plenty of opportunities from Week 1 given his raw athleticism, though it could take some time for him to be an IDP factor as he develops.

Focused on speed and clarity
DEJacksonville Jaguars
July 22, 2023
In an interview Thursday, Walker noted that his focus for the 2023 season is to "play faster" and to play with "a clear head," Christian Gonzales of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After being selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Walker helped lead the Jaguars to a 9-8 record and their first AFC South division title since 2017. Walker steadily improved over the regular season and finished with 49 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble across 15 games. With his first season in the books, Walker has shifted his focus to getting back "to the basic fundamental game of football" by understanding veteran player tendencies and offensive formations. With a defense led by young talent like Walker, Josh Allen and Devin Lloyd, the Jaguars will push for back-to-back division titles for the first time since 1998-99.
