2024 Fantasy Outlook
Jordan has shown flashes of potential as a pass catcher, but the 6-foot-3, 245-pound tight end’s limitations as a blocker have limited his playing time in a Houston tight end room that got even deeper in the offseason. Dalton Schultz is the team’s top pass catcher at the position, and blocking specialist Teagan Quitoriano was seeing more snaps than Jordan in 2023 prior to Quitoriano’s season-ending groin injury. Houston added further competition at tight end by selecting C.J. Stroud’s former Ohio State teammate, Cade Stover, in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Jordan had 99 yards across the two games that Schultz missed last season and added a 76-yard touchdown in the postseason, but it will likely take another injury to Schultz in order for Jordan to play enough to make a difference. The Texans and Jordan (knee) agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year contract extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jordan, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 2, looked on pace for a career-high snap share had he not gone down to injury. He played roughly 50 percent of offensive snaps behind top tight end Dalton Schultz in Week 1, his only full appearance of the 2024 season, where Jordan mostly contributed as a key blocker. Houston's decision to re-sign Jordan, a 2021 fifth-round pick, provides the team with some reliable depth for the 2025 campaign.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
2021
Jordan had a disappointing second season after a strong finish to his rookie year. An early injury and subpar QB play contributed to the drop-off, but there was also a three-game stretch as a healthy scratch. The last two seasons in Houston were not ideal for a young pass-catching tight end, so as the organization turns the corner with a new coaching staff and signal-caller, Jordan could bounce back in 2023. Assuming he's past the knee injury he suffered in the final game of 2022, Jordan will compete with Teagan Quitoriano for snaps behind Dalton Schultz, who comes over from Dallas after scoring 17 touchdowns the last three seasons.
A fifth-round pick in last year’s draft, Jordan flashed some potential after the Texans brought him along slowly. He was inactive the first seven games, but once he got on the field, he scored three TDs in his first six appearances. After missing a game with a hand injury, though, he failed to score in the next three games, ultimately averaging only 2.2 catches for 19.8 yards in nine games. He could take on a larger role in Year 2, with Jordan Akins' departure for the Giants in free agency reducing last-year’s three-man TE rotation to just Jordan and Pharaoh Brown. The Texans value Brown as a blocker, but Jordan is much faster (4.69 40). And with only one proven WR on the roster in Brandin Cooks, Jordan has an opportunity to emerge as one of the top receiving options for second-year QB Davis Mills.
The Texans have spent a lot of draft capital on tight ends in recent years, selecting Jordan Akins (third round) and Jordan Thomas (sixth round) in 2018, Kahale Warring (third round) in 2019 and now Jordan in the fifth round of 2021. None of the picks have taken hold of a job that has been filled by veteran Darren Fells that last two seasons. Houston let Fells walk, so there will be competition, although Akins is the position's leader entering training camp. Jordan is considered an undersized tight end that can line up at a few positions on the field.

Could play more if Schultz sits
TEHouston Texans
September 12, 2024
Jordan could be in line for a larger role Sunday against the Bears, as Dalton Schultz missed practice Wednesday and Thursday due to an ankle injury, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
ANALYSIS
Schultz is in danger of sitting out against a Chicago defense that allowed a touchdown to Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo in Week 1. Rookie Cade Stover could also compete for snaps, but Jordan performed well in Schultz's two-game absence last season, catching six of eight targets for 99 yards over that span.
