Belton's opportunities to play have been sporadic over his first two NFL campaigns, but he has a chance to move into a starting role in 2024 with Xavier McKinney off to Green Bay. Rookie second-round pick Tyler Nubin represents Belton's stiffest competition for the assignment, and the outcome may not be decided until close to Week 1 of the regular season. Belton got an opportunity to start as a rookie when Xavier McKinney broke his hand during the Giants' bye week, but he struggled in two games before being replaced by Jason Pinnock. Belton ended the campaign with 31 tackles, three pass defenses and two interceptions, with his playing time dwindling after Week 12. Julian Love's exit should prompt a training-camp battle between Belton, Pinnock and newcomer Bobby McCain for a starting safety spot, though New York could opt to take a committee approach.
