Dontayvion Wicks

23-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
Green Bay Packers
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Wicks came in as a fifth-round pick last year and played 50-to-66 percent of snaps in Green Bay's first four games, before sliding back to the bench once 2022 second-rounder Christian Watson got healthy. Wicks had just six catches for 85 yards over those first four games, but he caught fire in his part-time role, hauling in 16 of 22 targets for 279 yards over a six-game stretch in which he never played more than 30 snaps. He became a starter again in December with Watson and fellow rookie Jayden Reed bothered by injuries, only to suffer a chest injury of his own in the process of making a TD catch Week 16. Wicks came back Week 18 and caught a pair of TD passes, giving him a 16-207-3 receiving line on 22 targets over his final four appearances of the regular season. He then split snaps with Watson in two playoff games and had 2-25-1 on four targets, while Romeo Doubs took the lead in Green Bay's passing game. Overall, Wicks' rookie season was a pleasant surprise given his 430-yard senior year at Virginia and 4.62 40 time at the 2023 Combine. On the other hand, he'd put up 1,203 yards and nine TDs as a junior, and his non-40 workout numbers were impressive, including a 39-inch vertical and 130-inch broad jump at 6-1, 206. Wicks is probably the most physical among Green Bay's group of talented young wideouts, but the target projection is tricky given that Watson, Doubs and Reed all were drafted earlier and also have made their respective cases as NFL starters. It might take an injury or two for Wicks to get the volume he deserves in a Green Bay offense that caught fire in the second half of last season with QB Jordan Love and HC Matt LaFleur firing on all cylinders. Wicks was targeted three times and did not catch a pass in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Wicks was on the field for 31 of the 67 plays Green Bay ran Friday, but he was unable to haul in any of the passes thrown his direction. A productive rookie campaign made Wicks a trendy sleeper pick in fantasy drafts, but he finished fourth among Packers wideouts in snaps in Week 1, and he will presumably remain the fourth option at his position as long as the three receivers who played more than him stay healthy.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
After a 2021 season with Virginia in which he averaged 21.1 yards per catch and scored nine touchdowns, Wicks fell off last year (14.3 YPC, two TDs) and subsequently fell down draft boards. Even so, the Packers liked him enough to snap him up in the fifth round of this year's draft. Drops were an issue for Wicks, as were his 40-yard dash times (4.62 at the combine, 4.57 at his pro day). He otherwise rates well athletically and can be a big-play threat. Green Bay's receiving room is as green as any in the NFL, so if Wicks shows he's more like the receiver from 2021 than a year ago, he could snag the fourth spot on the depth chart and push for snaps as a rookie.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Puts on show in Thursday's practice
WRGreen Bay Packers
August 2, 2024
Wicks stood out during team periods in the Packers' training camp Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Demovsky notes several of the Packers' young wideouts have had big days already in training camp, and Wicks made his presence felt Thursday. The second-year wideout caught five passes, including four from Jordan Love, and four of the grabs went for first downs. The most impressive reception was a 26-yard contested catch on a deep ball down the left sideline during a two-minute drill, a play reminiscent of the downfield prowess Wicks demonstrated during a rookie 2023 campaign during which 11 of his 39 catches went for 20-plus yards.
