26-Year-Old SafetyS
Indianapolis Colts
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Blackmon tallied career-high marks across the board last season, emerging as one of the more dependable players in the Indianapolis secondary. He racked up 88 tackles (65 solo), eight passes defensed with four interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 15 games. Blackmon missed the last two games of the year due to a shoulder injury, but was back to full speed in spring workouts. He's set to start at strong safety. Read Past Outlooks

Does practice in full

Blackmon (shoulder) was a full participant during practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
It was previously reported by James Boyd of The Athletic that the Utah product was on the field Wednesday, but his level of participation wasn't reported. His ability to get in a full practice suggests the safety should be good to go Sunday against the Bears.

2020
Blackmon, who had 50 tackles and an interception last season, has been adept as a tackler and has held his own in coverage but has had trouble staying on the field over the last two campaigns. The 2020 third-rounder was limited to six games in 2021 due to an Achilles injury and this past season he missed three games and parts of another due to an ankle injury. He'll reprise his role as a starting safety for the Colts in 2023.
Blackmon emerged as a key piece in the secondary with 34 tackles (27 solo), a pass breakup and a forced fumble through the team's first six contests. However, he suffered a torn Achilles after Week 7 and missed the rest of the season. He should return as the starting free safety if he proves he's healthy in training camp.
Blackmon took over at starting free safety after Malik Hooker was hurt early last season and was a steady presence in the secondary. He showed promise against the pass by allowing just a 40.2 passer rating against, according to Pro Football Focus, and by grabbing two interceptions. He didn't rush the passer all season, so he's not used in blitz packages. However, he could be a steady source of tackles.
Blackmon (6-foot-1, 187 pounds) suffered an ACL tear in December, so the Colts' investment of a third-round pick represents a considerable vote of confidence. Blackmon is a former corner who's particularly noted for his coverage skills after standing out in Utah's dominant defense. While his rookie-year impact might be muted due to his recovery, the Colts are clearly fond of Blackmon as a long-term prospect.

Bills could be good fit
SFree Agent
March 21, 2024
Blackmon, who remains a free agent, could fit well in a revamped defensive backfield in Buffalo, Nick Shook of NFL.com suggests.
ANALYSIS
Blackmon is still only 26, meaning he'd provide quite the infusion of youth for Buffalo's defense after the departure of veteran safety tandem Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Additionally, Blackmon recorded a career-high four interceptions while allowing a career-low 47.8 percent completion rate in primary coverage for the Colts in 2023, making him a potentially undervalued option.
