2024 Fantasy Outlook
Stafford bounced back somewhat from an injury-riddled 2022 campaign but still was only QB15 in fantasy last season. That might be his ceiling at this point, though in his last six games he averaged 20.6 fantasy points. Prorated to a full season, that would place him third among QBs. In that stretch he threw 15/3 TD/INT with 8.0 YPA, compared to 9/8 TD/INT with 7.3 YPA in his first nine games. The biggest difference was his red-zone TD rate, which jumped from an absurdly low 13.9 percent to an above-average 28.6. That likely will normalize around league average (23.5 percent) this year, but if his 71.5 percent on-target rate (23rd) doesn't improve or if he doesn't increase his 7.7 average target depth (15th), he's unlikely to be much more than a middling fantasy QB. And that's with good health, which can't be assumed for the 36-year-old, who adds nothing on the ground (65 rushing yards last year in 15 games). Stafford has a solid pair of wide receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, and No. 3 wideout Demarcus Robinson came on late last season. Running back Kyren Williams gives the Rams a balanced offense, and Sean McVay's still calling plays, so Stafford at least still has plenty of fantasy value in two-QB leagues. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Perseveres in inclement weather
Stafford completed 16 of 27 passes for 160 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed four times for 18 yards in the Rams' 12-6 win over the 49ers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Stafford didn't look anywhere near as sharp as he had just four days earlier in a track meet against Josh Allen and the Bills, but wet conditions throughout the night certainly played a role. However, the veteran persevered through less-than-ideal circumstances and continued to display a prolific connection with Puka Nacua, with whom he connected on seven occasions for 97 yards. The biggest offensive play of the night also transpired between the two, as Stafford hit the standout receiver for a 51-yard completion to open a late fourth-quarter drive that culminated in a field goal. The veteran signal-caller did see a four-game streak of multiple touchdown passes come to an end, but he has the Rams in solid shape at 8-6 heading into a Week 16 road battle against the Jets on Sunday, Dec. 22.

The Rams turned in the worst Super Bowl title defense in NFL history last year (5-12), and Stafford was a big reason why. Before missing a game with a concussion and then the last seven games with a spinal cord contusion, Stafford struggled to a 10/8 TD/INT in nine games. His YPA dropped by more than a yard from the previous year to 6.9 (21st) while his average target depth dropped by nearly two yards to 6.7, 29th in the NFL. Stafford’s downfield passing took a big hit as his on-target percentage sank to 37.5 (30th) on attempts of 20-plus yards. Other than Cooper Kupp, who only played nine games, Stafford didn’t have a quality wideout to target -- Allen Robinson was a free-agent bust, Van Jefferson missed the first six games with a knee injury and Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell failed to develop. Robinson is gone, but the Rams did not acquire additional receiving weapons through free agency or the draft other than fifth-round pick Puka Nacua. So, it will be Kupp, Jefferson, Skowronek and Atwell again, along with TE Tyler Higbee. Stafford doesn’t run and the offensive line is poor (though second-round pick Steve Avila could help at LG). It’s not a good fantasy recipe.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
May have top two targets Week 8
Stafford could have both of his top two receivers available for the first time since Week 1 in Thursday's game against the Vikings, as Cooper Kupp doesn't have an injury designation, per Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio, while Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports that the Rams are optimistic Puka Nacua will play through his questionable designation.
ANALYSIS
Nacua injured his knee in Week 1 and Kupp hurt his ankle in Week 2, so Stafford has had to make do with a depleted wide receiver room since then. Just getting Kupp back will already provide a major boost, but having both standout receivers would be even better for Stafford's outlook. Stafford has averaged just 215 passing yards per game in his last five starts, a marked decrease from the 268 yards he averaged in the 16 preceding regular-season starts since the Rams drafted Nacua in 2023.
