30-Year-Old Tight EndTE
Indianapolis Colts
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Alie-Cox has long been the Colts' best blocking tight end and has 14 touchdowns among his 102 career receptions, but he has faded as a target in the passing game. He had just 22 targets in 17 games for 13 receptions for 161 yards. At 6-5, he has the size to be a Red Zone target, but the Colts split targets between multiple tight ends giving him little upside. Alie-Cox did not have a reception and was targeted just once in Sunday's loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Alie-Cox got the start at tight end, but he's almost exclusively a blocking tight end these days as he went out on just seven routes among his 18 snaps on offense. Kylen Granson played more snaps (25) but also had just one target. With the Colts using a more vertical passing attack than last season, none of the Colts' tight ends may get significant targets.

Alie-Cox entered 2022 as a potential sleeper tight end and red-zone target, but his production declined in almost every area. He had just 19 receptions for 189 yards and three touchdowns. He was also phased out of the offense in the second half of 2022 with just six receptions and 10 targets over his last eight games. The 6-5, 267-pound Alie-Cox has proven to be a serviceable blocker, and his big frame and athleticism made him a threat in the red zone. He could emerge in that regard again, but the Colts split targets last season between three tight ends (Alie-Cox, Kylen Granson and Jelani Woods) and took another one in the 2023 draft (fifth-rounder Will Mallory).
Alie-Cox had 24 receptions for 316 yards and four touchdowns on 45 targets last season, despite playing fewer than 70 percent of the Colts' offensive snaps in all but two games. The 6-5, 267-pound Alie-Cox has proven not only to be a serviceable blocker since joining the Colts as an undrafted rookie in 2017, but he's also used his big frame and athleticism to become a reliable threat in the red zone. With Jack Doyle's retirement, Alie-Cox is poised to be the team's top tight end and his target share and red zone usage could increase significantly.
Alie-Cox, who caught 31 passes for 394 yards and two TDs in 15 games last season, is back with the Colts on a one-year deal and should remain in a timeshare with returnee Jack Doyle, while 2021 fourth-rounder Kylen Granson gets up to speed with the offense. Down the road, Granson could command his share of targets, but Alie-Cox's role in the offense could yield the occasional fantasy-worthy stat line to start the 2021 campaign.
Alie-Cox, who finished the 2019 season with eight catches for 93 yards in 16 games, is back to reprise his reserve tight end duties. With Eric Ebron no longer in the mix, Alie-Cox is now slated to work behind Jack Doyle and Trey Burton in 2020.
The Colts feature their tight ends in the red zone more than any other team in the NFL, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that Alie-Cox snatched two touchdowns on just 13 targets through the course of the nine games he saw action in. With Jack Doyle and 2018 team-leader in touchdowns, Eric Ebron, both healthy and expected to be major factors in the offense, Alie-Cox figures to work mostly in a depth role and on special teams this coming season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Not guaranteed roster spot
TEIndianapolis Colts
July 1, 2024
Alie-Cox could be cut before the season, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end is heading into the final year of his current contract, and cutting him would clear $5.9 million in cap space for the Colts. Alie-Cox's blocking skills have made him a mainstay for Indianapolis, but he's never put things together as a receiver, and the team's depth chart is loaded with younger, cheaper options. As a result, Alie-Cox could be deemed expendable before the end of training camp.
