Sebastian Joseph-Day

29-Year-Old Defensive TackleDT
Tennessee Titans
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Joseph-Day has filled a traditional run-stuffing role as an interior defensive lineman throughout the first five years of his career. His fit in Tennessee should remain the same, even if he kicks out to an end position due to the addition of T'Vondre Sweat in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Joseph-Day should have the chance to stay on the field plenty, but his productivity from a fantasy sense will remain limited. Read Past Outlooks

Sacks Williams for 19-yard loss
DTTennessee Titans
September 9, 2024
Joseph-Day registered three tackles (two solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defended in Sunday's 24-17 loss to Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Joseph-Day played in just 18 of the Titans' 56 defensive snaps Sunday, but he made his limited playing time count. Two of his tackles went for losses, and his 19-yard sack on Caleb Williams in the first quarter knocked the Bears out of field-goal range. Joseph-Day will look to pad his sack total in Week 2 against Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.

The massive defensive tackle joined the Chargers on a three-year, $24 million deal last season to improve the defensive line last offseason and Joseph-Day more or less held up his end of the bargain playing over 750 total snaps and recording 56 tackles and nine tackles for a loss. Too often the Chargers still were pushed around in the run game, a fact that could prove even more troublesome given the team didn't add any household names up front this offseason.
Head coach Brandon Staley brought a bit of his Rams roster to the other side of LA this offseason as the Chargers signed Joseph-Day to a massive three-year deal despite the defensive tackle missing the last 14 games of last season due to a pectoral injury. In his seven games played, the fourth-year rusher played a key role for last year's Super Bowl champions as he accounted for 38 tackles and three sacks. With Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack rushing off the edge, it's likely Joseph-Day and 2019 first-round pick Jerry Tillery will be prominent interior pass rushers for a Chargers defense that is expected to take a massive step forward in 2022.
The 26-year-old defensive tackle has started 31 of 32 games the past two seasons, including all 16 in 2020. Joseph-Day also racked up 11 more tackles last year than in 2019, despite playing 76 fewer defensive snaps. However, the run stopper has just three career sacks, so there's not a lot of fantasy upside. Joseph-Day likely is only an IDP option in formats that require managers to start multiple defensive linemen.
A 15-game starter in 2019, Joseph-Day is the favorite to open the 2020 season as the starting defensive tackle in Los Angeles' 3-4 base defense following A'Shawn Robinson's placement on the active/non-football injury list during the offseason. A sixth-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, the 25-year-old recorded 44 tackles (25 solo) and two sacks last year. However, unless there's notable statistical improvement, it's unlikely Joseph-Day makes a consistent fantasy impact in IDP settings.
The second-year pro didn't see the field as a rookie after being selected in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Joseph-Day projects to slide into a starting role in 2019, though. He committed to an offseason conditioning and nutrition program and has stood out during OTAs and training camp. It's unlikely Joseph-Day has a notable fantasy impact, but he could surprise if opposing offenses are too focused on slowing down fellow linemen Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers.

ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old defensive tackle split last season between the Chargers and 49ers, playing 16 games in the regular season and all three of San Francisco's playoff contests. Joseph-Day could get the opportunity to claim a significant role on a Titans defensive line that lacks proven commodities outside of Jeffrey Simmons, who ended the 2023 campaign on injured reserve due to a knee issue.
