DeMario Douglas

23-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
New England Patriots
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Douglas was one of the few bright spots on a broken Patriots offense in 2023, drawing at least five targets in every game he played from Week 7 on. He had seven games with at least 40 yards out of the 14 he played. though he topped 55 yards just twice (84, 74), mostly settling for short gains and failing to score even a single TD. Douglas played both inside and outside as a rookie last year, but at 5-8, 192, he's probably a better fit in the slot long term. As much as he looks like a gem of a sixth-round pick, his considerable role in 2023 was at least partially a product of the Patriots lacking other options. They're hoping 2024 second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk and fourth-rounder Javon Baker can take care of that, and they also brought in former Vikings No. 3 receiver K.J. Osborn and re-signed Kendrick Bourne (who is rehabbing an ACL tear). Competition for roles should be wide open under the new coaching staff, with Douglas a candidate to land anywhere between first and fifth on the depth chart. Read Past Outlooks

Catches three passes from Maye
WRNew England Patriots
August 25, 2024
Douglas recorded three receptions (on four targets) for 14 yards in Sunday's 20-10 preseason loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Douglas played exclusively in three-receiver sets, but he was still among the snap leaders for the Patriots in their first several offensive possessions as he worked primarily alongside Tyquan Thornton and K.J. Osborn. Douglas' longest catch of the day came on a third down midway through the first quarter that went for 16 yards and was delivered by Drake Maye. More importantly, Douglas looks to be the starting slot receiver for the Patriots heading into a Week 1 matchup against the Bengals.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
Douglas was the second of two wide receivers selected by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, so the Liberty product isn't a lock to make the team's initial roster. If he does stick, the 5-8, 170-pounder has the quickness to potentially emerge as a slot option for the team, as well as contribute as a returner. For now, though, Douglas is clearly behind JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Tyquan Thornton and Kendrick Bourne on the depth chart and also has to jostle for slotting with fellow rookie Kayshon Boutte.

Top slot option for Pats
WRNew England Patriots
June 30, 2024
Douglas looked as quick as ever during the offseason program and operated out of the slot as a top-three wide receiver for the Patriots, per Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
New England has plenty of options competing for playing time at wide receiver, but Douglas has separated himself as the team's top slot receiver over JuJu Smith-Schuster. Douglas caught 49 of 79 targets for 561 yards as a rookie in 2023 but failed to score a touchdown.
